Ice Cold Amsterdam

Last weekend’s trip to Amsterdam was lots of fun and we did everything we could despite the fact that it was sooo cold (-5) and all the canals were iced over for the first time in many years. It’s so close to London and only took 45 minutes to fly there so definitely worth a short break…

The Venice of the North, Amsterdam’s attractions are a mix of cultural, alcohol infused or sightings of windmills, clogs and tulips. Besides the famed red-light areas where window-shopping takes on a new meaning and the famous coffee bars that are more popular for their other wares, Amsterdam is home to hundreds of canals, museums and stylish bars.

The highlights of the weekend city break:

  • Dodging trams and bicycles
  • SupperClub (separate post to come!)
  • Walk through the Red Light District
  • Tulips and other beautiful flowers at Bloemenmarkt
  • Heineken Experience and House of Bols tour – 33 flavours
  • Delish pancakes at Pancakes! (as recommended by everyone)
  • Taking in the old buildings and architecture
  • Cheese
  • Clogs everywhere

Well worth a short city visit especially with good friends…
